Your RV is your home on wheels, and like any home, it needs regular maintenance to stay in top shape. One of the most important—and most often overlooked—parts of RV upkeep is resealing. At Osborne Bay RV, we know that keeping your RV properly sealed is key to avoiding water damage, mold, and expensive repairs down the road.

Why Resealing Matters
RV sealant protects your unit from the elements by sealing off seams, roof edges, windows, vents, and other vulnerable spots. Over time, sun exposure, rain, snow, and road vibrations cause this sealant to crack, peel, or shrink, leaving your RV at risk for leaks.
A small crack might not seem like a big deal now, but one rainy week later, you could be dealing with warped wood, mouldy insulation, or interior damage that’s expensive to fix. Resealing is preventative maintenance that can save you thousands in the long run.
How Often Should You Reseal?
Here’s what we recommend:
Inspect your seals twice yearly – ideally when you winterize and de-winterize your RV.
Repair any cracks or gaps right away using RV-safe sealant.
Fully reseal every 3 to 5 years, depending on how your RV is stored and used.
Units stored outdoors exposed to UV rays and rain will need more frequent resealing. RVs kept under a carport, cover, or in a garage will often have longer-lasting seals.
Signs You Need a Reseal
Visible cracks in the sealant
Peeling or flaking sealant
Damp smells inside your RV
Discoloration on the ceiling or walls
Water streaks down the sides of your RV
If you notice any of these signs, it’s time to act.
